Angelina Jolie quits Princess Diana’s favourite mine-clearing charity
Britain’s charity watchdog is to investigate complaints about payment protection pay at a global mine-clearing charity made famous by Princess Diana following reports that Angelina Jolie has left the board on payments.
The Halo Trust said Chairman of the its board, Amanda Pullinger, and executive trustee Simon Conway received a total of about £ 120,000 ($ 180,000) for monitoring the structure and governance of charities entre May and October 2014.
Jolie quit the Halo Trust in May last year, 18 months after joining, and an insider told The Times on Wednesday that she resigned because she was “uncomfortable” with these payments approved by the charity.
A spokeswoman for the Halo Trust, played down reports that his departure was linked to payment, which the trust deemed “entirely appropriate”.
